🎓 National Decision Day Is Here: What You Need to Know Before Saying "Yes!"

Today is National Decision Day! If you’re a high school senior, May 1 is the deadline to officially notify the college you plan to attend. It’s a moment that marks the end of one chapter and the exciting beginning of another.

Whether you’ve had your heart set on a school for months or you’ve been weighing your options until the last minute, know this: you’re not alone, and it’s okay to feel nervous, excited, and everything in between.

đź’ˇ Tips for Decision Day

1. Trust Your Gut.
You’ve gathered the info, attended webinars, toured campuses, talked to current students, and maybe even made a giant pros and cons list. Now it’s time to trust your instincts. Think about:

  • Where you felt most comfortable or excited when you visited (even virtually)

  • Which school offers the best support, opportunities, or fit for your goals

  • How each college made you feel! Sometimes that feeling is more important than rankings or name recognition

2. Submit Your Deposit
Go to your chosen school’s admissions portal and follow their steps to confirm your enrollment and pay the deposit.

3. Let Other Colleges Know
It’s respectful (and helpful to other waitlisted students) to decline offers from the schools you won’t attend. Usually, this can be done quickly online.

4. Celebrate Your Decision
This is a big deal! Don’t skip the celebration! Share your commitment on social media (if you want to), treat yourself to your favorite dessert, or just take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come.

5. Start Prepping for What’s Next
Be on the lookout for emails from your college with information about housing, orientation, advising, and immunization records. Read them closely and meet the upcoming deadlines.

You WILL Thrive Wherever You Land

Choosing a college is a personal decision and the “right” school is the one that fits you. There’s no perfect choice, but there is a path that’s meant for you. Believe in your decision, believe in yourself, and get ready for an amazing adventure!

And if you’re still having second thoughts after submitting your deposit, that’s okay. It’s a big step. Give yourself grace and stay focused on the new chapter ahead.

From all of us at College Bird, congrats on getting to this point! You've done the work, and now it's time to take flight. Congratulations to the Class of 2025! 🎓
